Dashboard Removal/Installation

Special Tools Required

- KTC trim tool set SOJATP2014*
SRS components are located in this area. Review the SRS component locations for the appropriate model:

- '00-05 models

- '06-09 models Locations

Also review the precautions and procedures Technician Safety Information before doing repairs or service.

NOTE:

- Use the appropriate tool from the KTC trim tool set to avoid damage when removing components.

- Have an assistant help you when you remove and install the dashboard.

- Take care not to scratch the dashboard, the body, or other related parts.

- Put on gloves to protect your hands.

1. Do the battery terminal disconnection procedure, Procedures then wait at least 3 minutes before beginning the work.

2. Remove these items:
- Radio panel Radio Panel Removal/Installation

- Audio unit Service and Repair

- Steering column Service and Repair

- '06-09 models: Driver's dashboard lower cover Drivers Dashboard Lower Cover Removal/Installation

- Passenger's dashboard lower cover Passengers Dashboard Lower Cover Removal/Installation

- Front console cover, both sides Front Console Cover Removal/Installation

- Passenger's airbag assembly Passengers Airbag Replacement

- Kick panel, both sides Service and Repair

- A-pillar trim, both sides Interior Trim Removal/Installation - Front Roof Area

3. Disconnect the engine wire harness connector (A), the engine compartment wire harness connectors (B), the door wire harness connectors (C), the rear wire harness connector (D), the steering hanger beam wire harness connectors (E), the SRS main harness connector (F), the front impact sensor harness connector (G), the radio antenna harness connector (H), the ECM connector (I), the keyless entry control unit connector (J), and the convertible top control unit connector (K).

4. Remove the ground bolts (L).

5. Detach all of the harness and connector clips.






6. Open the doors, remove the caps (A), then remove the bolts (B, C, D) and the screws (E). Lift up on the dashboard (F) to release it from the guide pins (G). Take care not to scratch the center console or the shift knob.

7. Carefully remove the dashboard through the front door opening.

8. Install the dashboard in the reverse order of removal, and note these items:
- Make sure the dashboard fits onto the guide pins correctly.

- Before tightening the bolts, make sure the dashboard and steering hanger beam wire harnesses are not pinched.

- Make sure the connectors are plugged in properly.

- Do the battery terminal reconnection procedure. Procedures
