Engine Oil Pan Installation
Special Tools Required
- Engine support hanger A and Reds AAR-T1256*
- 2006 Civic engine hanger VSB02C000025
- 1.8 support eyelet 07AAK-SNAA400
- 1.8 support bolt 07AAK-SNAA500

1. Remove all of the old liquid gasket from the oil pan mating surfaces, the bolts, and the bolt holes.
2. Clean and dry the oil pan mating surfaces.
3. Apply liquid gasket, P/N 08717-00004, 08718-0003, or 08718-0009 to the engine block mating surface of the oil pan, and to the inside edge of the threaded bolt holes. Install the component within 5 minutes of applying the liquid gasket.
NOTE:
- Apply a 3 mm (0.12 in) diameter bead of liquid gasket along the broken line (A).
- If too much time has passed after applying the liquid gasket, remove the old liquid gasket and residue, then reapply new liquid gasket.
4. Install the dowel pins (A), then install the oil pan (B) with new O-rings (C).
5. Tighten the bolts in three steps. In the final step, torque all bolts, in sequence, to 18 N-m (1.8 kgf-m, 13 lbf-ft). Wipe off the excess liquid gasket on the each side of crankshaft pulley and flywheel/drive plate.
NOTE:
- Wait at least 30 minutes before filling the engine with oil.
- Do not run the engine within 3 hours after installing the oil pan.
6. Install the clutch cover/torque converter cover (A), and install the two bolts securing the transmission.
7. A/T model: Install the shift cable cover.
8. Install the A/C compressor bracket.
9. Install the lower torque rod bracket.
10. If the engine is still in the vehicle, do the following steps.
11. Lower the vehicle on the lift.
12. Loosen the upper torque rod mounting bolt. Engine Installation
13. Raise the vehicle on the lift.
14. Install the lower torque rod. Engine Installation
15. Lower the vehicle on the lift.
16. Remove the engine support hanger A and Reds (AAR-T1256), the 2006 Civic engine hanger (VSB02C000025), the 1.8 support eyelet (07AAK-SNAA400), and the 1.8 support bolt (07AAK-SNAA500).
17. Tighten the upper torque rod mounting bolt. Engine Installation
18. Raise the vehicle on the lift.
19. Install exhaust pipe A. Engine Installation
20. Install the splash shield. Engine Installation
21. Lower the vehicle on the lift.
22. Install the air cleaner assembly. Service and Repair
23. Install the intake air duct. Service and Repair
24. Install the A/C compressor Install the harness clamp, then connect the A/C compressor clutch connector. Engine Installation
25. Install the A/C condenser fan shroud. Heater Unit/Core Replacement (With A/C)
26. Install the drive belt. Service and Repair
27. Refill the engine with the recommended engine oil. Testing and Inspection
