Hood Latch Release: Service and Repair




Hood Opener Cable Replacement

NOTE:

- Put on gloves to protect your hands.

- Take care not to scratch the body or the related parts.

- Take care not to kink the hood opener cable.

1. Remove these items:
- Front grille cover Front Grille Cover Replacement

- Front inner fender:
- 2-door Front Inner Fender Replacement (2-Door)

- 4-door Front Inner Fender Replacement (4-Door)

- Kick panel driver's side:
- 2-door Service and Repair

- 4-door Interior Trim Removal/Installation - Front Door Sill Area (4-Door)

2. Disconnect the hood opener cable (A) from the hood latch (B), Service and Repair and remove the bolts (C), then remove the hood release handle (D).

3. Detach the clips (E) with a clip remover, release the hood opener cable from the clip (F). Remove the grommet (G), then remove the hood opener cable.

4. Install the cable in the reverse order of removal, and note these items:
- If the clips are damaged or stress-whitened, replace them with new ones.

- Push the clips into place securely.

- Make sure the hood opens properly and locks securely.
