HandsFreeLink System Symptom Troubleshooting - The HFL system does not recognize all voice commands

The HFL system does not recognize all voice commands

NOTE: Check the vehicle battery condition first Battery Test.

1. Connect the HDS to the DLC Initial Inspection and Diagnostic Overview.

2. Turn the ignition switch to ON (II).

3. Check for HFL DTCs with the HDS.

Are there any DTCs indicated?

YES -

Troubleshoot the indicated DTC(s).

NO -

Go to step 4.

4. Check to see if you can duplicate the customer complaint.

Can you duplicate the complaint?

YES -

- With navigation, go to step 5.
- Without navigation, go to step 6.

NO -

The system is OK at this time. Ask the customer to demonstrate the problem.

5. Check if the navigation system can recognize voice prompts.

Can the voice prompts be recognized?

YES -

Go to step 6.

NO -

Refer to the navigation system troubleshooting Symptom Troubleshooting.

6. Pair the customer's phone to a known-good vehicle, and try to duplicate the problem.

Can you duplicate the problem?

YES -

Call the HFL call center at 888-528-7876, and inquire if there are any known issues for the problem. If there are no known issues, explain to the customer's this is a system characteristic and cannot be improved at this time.

NO -

Substitute a known-good front HFL-navigation-ANC microphone Front HFL-Navigation-ANC Microphone Removal/Installation or front HFL-ANC microphone Front HFL-ANC Microphone Removal/Installation, and recheck. If the symptom/indication goes away, replace the original front HFL-navigation-ANC microphone Front HFL-Navigation-ANC Microphone Removal/Installation or front HFL-ANC microphone Front HFL-ANC Microphone Removal/Installation. If the symptom/indication is still present, replace the HandsFreeLink control unit Service and Repair.
