Key Interlock Solenoid Test (A/T)




Key Interlock Solenoid Test

NOTE: SRS components are located in this area. Review the SRS component locations 4-door SRS Component Location Index (4-Door), 2-door SRS Component Location Index (2-Door), and precautions and procedures Service and Repair before doing repairs or servicing.

1. Remove the steering column cover Service and Repair.

2. Disconnect the steering lock 6P connector (A).






3. Insert the ignition key in the key cylinder, then turn the ignition key to ACCESSORY (I).

4. Connect the positive battery terminal to steering lock 6P connector terminal No. 4, and connect the negative battery terminal to terminal No. 3. Check that the ignition key cannot be turned to LOCK (0). Release the battery terminals, and check that the key can be turned to the LOCK (0) position and removed from the cylinder.

5. If the key interlock solenoid works improperly, the key interlock solenoid is faulty; replace the steering lock Service and Repair.
