DTC Troubleshooting: P0369

DTC P0369 : CMP Sensor Circuit Intermittent Interruption

NOTE: Before you troubleshoot, record all freeze data and any on-board snapshot, and review the general troubleshooting information How To Troubleshoot The Fuel And Emissions Systems.

1. PGM-FI system check:

-1. Turn the ignition switch to ON (II).

-2. Clear the DTC with the HDS.

-3. Start the engine, and let it idle for 10 seconds.

-4. Check the CMP B NOISE in the DATA LIST with the HDS.

Are 0 counts indicated?
-YES- Go to step 3.
-NO- Go to step 2.

2. Problem verification:

-1. Test-drive the vehicle for several minutes in the range of these recorded freeze data parameters:
* ENGINE SPEED
* VEHICLE SPEED

-2. Check the CMP B NOISE in the DATA LIST with the HDS.

Are 0 counts indicated?
-YES- The failure is duplicated. Go to step 3.
-NO- Intermittent failure, the system is OK at this time. Check for poor connections or loose terminals at the CMP sensor and the ECM/PCM.

3. Connectors and terminals condition check:

-1. Check for poor connections or loose terminals at these locations:
* CMP sensor
* ECM/PCM
* Engine ground
* Body ground

Are the connections and terminals OK?
-YES- Go to step 4.
-NO- Repair the connections or terminals, then do the repair verification.

4. CMP pulse plate visual check:

-1. Remove the cylinder head cover, and check for damage to the CMP pulse plate.

Is the pulse plate damaged?
-YES- Replace the CMP pulse plate Service and Repair, then do the repair verification.
-NO- Replace the CMP sensor Service and Repair, then do the repair verification.

Repair verification:

-1. Turn the ignition switch to LOCK (0).

-2. Reconnect all connectors.

-3. Turn the ignition switch to ON (II).

-4. Reset the ECM/PCM with the HDS How To Troubleshoot The Fuel And Emissions Systems.

-5. Do the ECM/PCM idle learn procedure ECM/PCM Idle Learn Procedure.

-6. Start the engine, and let it idle for 10 seconds.

-7. Check for Pending or Confirmed DTCs with the HDS.

Is DTC P0369 indicated?
-YES- Check for poor connections or loose terminals at the CMP sensor and the ECM/PCM, then go to step 1.
-NO- Troubleshooting is complete. If any other Pending or Confirmed DTCs are indicated, go to the indicated DTC's troubleshooting.
