Backup Lamp Switch: Testing and Inspection






Back-Up Light Switch Test

Removal

1. Intake Air Pipe





1. Remove the intake air pipe.

2. Air Cleaner





1. Disconnect the intake air duct (A).

2. Remove the air cleaner (B).

3. Remove the harness clamp (C).

3. Back-Up Light Switch Connector





1. Remove the transmission hanger (A).





2. Disconnect the connector (A).

Test

1. Back-Up Light Switch Test





1. Check for continuity between back-up light switch 2P connector terminals No. 1 and No. 2. There should be continuity only when the shift lever is in reverse.

* If the test result is OK, connect the back-up light switch 2P connector.
* If the test result is not OK, remove the back-up light switch.

Removal

1. Back Up Light Switch





1. Remove the back-up light switch (A) and the 18 mm sealing washer (B).

Test

1. Back-Up Light Switch Test





1. Check for continuity between back-up light switch 2P connector terminals No. 1 and No. 2. There should be continuity when the switch end is pressed, and no continuity when the switch end is released.

* If the test result is OK, check the reverse shift mechanism in the transmission.
* If the test result is not OK, replace the back-up light switch.

Installation

1. Back Up Light Switch





1. Install the back-up light switch (A) with a new 18 mm sealing washer (B).

2. Back-Up Light Switch Connector





1. Connect the connector (A).





2. Install the transmission hanger (A).

3. Air Cleaner





1. Install the harness clamp (A).

2. Install the air cleaner (B).

3. Connect the intake air duct (C).

4. Intake Air Pipe





1. Install the intake air pipe.
