DTC Troubleshooting: P0341

DTC P0341 : CMP Sensor A and CKP Sensor Incorrect Phase Detected

NOTE: Before you troubleshoot, record all freeze data and any on-board snapshot, and review the general troubleshooting information How To Troubleshoot The Fuel And Emissions Systems.

1. Problem verification:

Problem verification
-1. Turn the ignition switch to ON (II).

-2. Clear the DTC with the HDS.

-3. Test-drive at a steady speed between 19-38 mph (30-60 km/h) for 10 minutes.

-4. Check for Pending or Confirmed DTCs with the HDS.

Is DTC P0341 indicated?
-YES- Go to step 5.
-NO- Go to step 2.

2. VTC system check (VTC TEST with the HDS):

VTC system check (VTC TEST with the HDS)
-1. Do the VTC TEST in the INSPECTION MENU with the HDS.

Is the result OK?
-YES- Go to step 3.
-NO- Go to step 5.

3. VTC system check (VTC STATUS check with the HDS):

-1. Test-drive at a steady speed between 19-38 mph (30-60 km/h) for 10 minutes.

-2. Check the VTC STATUS in the DATA LIST with the HDS.

Does it indicate ON?
-YES- Go to step 4.
-NO- Redo the test-drive, then recheck the VTC STATUS.

4. VTC system check (DTC check):

VTC system check (DTC check)
-1. Monitor the OBD STATUS for DTC P0341 in the DTCs MENU with the HDS.

Does the screen indicate FAILED?
-YES- Go to step 5.
-NO- If the screen indicates PASSED, intermittent failure, the system is OK at this time. If the screen indicates NOT COMPLETED, go to step 3 and recheck.

5. VTC oil control valve operation check:

-1. Test the VTC oil control solenoid valve. VTC Oil Control Solenoid Valve Removal, Installation, and Test

Is the VTC oil control solenoid valve OK?
-YES- Go to step 6.
-NO- Replace the VTC oil control solenoid valve VTC Oil Control Solenoid Valve Removal, Installation, and Test, then do the repair verification.

6. Camshaft timing check:

-1. Check the camshaft timing.

Is the camshaft timing OK?
-YES- Go to step 7.
-NO- Reset the camshaft timing, then do the repair verification.

7. Cam chain check:

Cam chain check:
-1. Check for damage or stretch at the cam chain. Testing and Inspection

Is the cam chain damaged or stretched?
-YES- Replace the cam chain and the auto-tensioner Service and Repair, then do the repair verification.
-NO- Go to step 8.

8. VTC actuator check:

VTC actuator check
-1. Inspect the VTC actuator. Testing and Inspection

Is the actuator OK?
-YES- Go to step 9.
-NO- Replace the VTC actuator Service and Repair, then do the repair verification.

9. PGM-FI system check (DTC check):

-1. Turn the ignition switch to ON (II).

-2. Reset the ECM with the HDS. How To Troubleshoot The Fuel And Emissions Systems

-3. Do the ECM idle learn procedure. ECM/PCM Idle Learn Procedure

-4. Do the CKP pattern clear/CKP pattern learn procedure. Procedures

-5. Test-drive at a steady speed between 19-38 mph (30-60 km/h) for 10 minutes.

-6. Check for Pending or Confirmed DTCs with the HDS.

Is DTC P0341 indicated?
-YES- Check for poor connections or loose terminals at the VTC oil control solenoid valve and the ECM, then go to step 1.
-NO- Intermittent failure, the system is OK at this time.

Repair verification (OBD STATUS check):

-1. Turn the ignition switch to ON (II).

-2. Reset the ECM with the HDS. How To Troubleshoot The Fuel And Emissions Systems

-3. Do the ECM idle learn procedure ECM/PCM Idle Learn Procedure.

-4. Do the CKP pattern clear/CKP pattern learn procedure Procedures.

-5. Test-drive at a steady speed between 19-38 mph (30-60 km/h) for 10 minutes.

-6. Monitor the OBD STATUS for DTC P0341 in the DTCs MENU with the HDS.

Does the HDS indicate PASSED, FAILED, or NOT COMPLETED?
-PASSED- Troubleshooting is complete. If any other Pending or Confirmed DTCs were indicated, go to the indicated DTC's troubleshooting.
-FAILED- Go to step 1 and recheck.
-NOT COMPLETED- Meet the test condition, and check the OBD STATUS again.
