DTC Troubleshooting: P0461
DTC P0461 : Fuel Level Sensor (Fuel Gauge Sending Unit) Circuit Range/Performance Problem
NOTE:
* Before you troubleshoot, record all freeze data and any on-board snapshot, and review the general troubleshooting information How To Troubleshoot The Fuel And Emissions Systems.
* Because it requires 124 miles (200 km) of driving without refueling to complete this diagnosis, DTC P0461 cannot be duplicated during this troubleshooting.
1. Fuel gauge sending unit performance check:
Fuel gauge sending unit performance check
-1. Test the fuel gauge sending unit.
Is the fuel gauge sending unit OK?
-YES- Check for poor connections or loose terminals at the fuel gauge sending unit and the gauge control module (tach).
-NO- Replace the fuel gauge sending unit Fuel Pump/Fuel Gauge Sending Unit Removal and Installation, then do the repair verification.
Repair verification:
-1. Turn the ignition switch to ON (II).
-2. Reset the ECM with the HDS How To Troubleshoot The Fuel And Emissions Systems.
-3. Do the ECM idle learn procedure ECM/PCM Idle Learn Procedure.
-4. Check for Pending or Confirmed DTCs with the HDS.
Are any Pending or Confirmed DTCs indicated?
-YES- Go to the indicated DTCs Troubleshooting.
-NO- Troubleshooting is complete.
