DTC Troubleshooting: P2279
DTC P2279 : Intake Air System Leak
NOTE:
* Before you troubleshoot, record all freeze data and any on-board snapshot, and review the general troubleshooting information How To Troubleshoot The Fuel And Emissions Systems.
* If DTC P0443 is stored at the same time as DTC P2279, troubleshoot DTC P0443 first, then recheck for DTC P2279.
1. Intake air system visual check:

-1. Check for vacuum leaks at these parts:
* PCV valve
* PCV hose
* Purge (PCS) line
* Throttle body
* Intake manifold
* Brake booster
* Brake booster hose
Are the parts OK?
-YES- Go to step 2.
-NO- Repair or replace any leaking part(s), then do the repair verification.
2. Problem verification:

-1. Let the engine cool until the value of ECT SENSOR 1 is 140 °F (60 °C) or less.
-2. Clear the DTC with the HDS.
-3. Start the engine, and let it idle for 10 seconds or more.
-4. Monitor the OBD STATUS for DTC P2279 with the HDS.
Does the HDS indicate FAILED?
-YES- The failure is duplicated. Check the camshaft timing and adjust it if needed, then do the repair verification.
-NO- If the HDS indicates PASSED, intermittent failure, the system is OK at this time. Check for vacuum leaks at the PCV valve, the PCV hose, the purge (PCS) line, the throttle body, the intake manifold, the brake booster, and the brake booster hose. If the HDS indicates EXECUTING, keep idling until a result comes on. If the HDS indicates OUT OF CONDITION, go to step 2-1. and recheck.
Repair verification (OBD STATUS check):
-1. Turn the ignition switch to LOCK (0).
-2. Reconnect all connectors.
-3. Turn the ignition switch to ON (II).
-4. Reset the ECM with the HDS How To Troubleshoot The Fuel And Emissions Systems.
-5. Do the ECM idle learn procedure. ECM/PCM Idle Learn Procedure
-6. Let the engine cool until the value of ECT SENSOR 1 is 140 °F (60 °C) or less.
-7. Start the engine, and let it idle for 10 seconds or more.
-8. Monitor the OBD STATUS for DTC P2279 in the DTCs MENU with the HDS.
Does the HDS indicate PASSED, FAILED, EXECUTING, or OUT OF CONDITION?
-PASSED- Troubleshooting is complete. If any other Pending or Confirmed DTCs were indicated, go to the indicated DTC's troubleshooting.
-FAILED- Go to step 1 and recheck.
-EXECUTING- Keep the test condition until a result comes on.
-OUT OF CONDITION- Meet the test condition, and check the OBD STATUS again.
