Navigation System Symptom Troubleshooting - Voice guidance cannot be heard, is broken up, or there is static

Voice guidance cannot be heard, is broken up, or there is static

NOTE:
* Check the vehicle battery condition first Battery Test.
* Check any official Honda service website for more service information about the navigation system.
* Check the connectors for poor connections or loose terminals.

1. Determine possible failure area (volume settings, others):

Determine possible failure area (volume settings, others)
-1. Turn the ignition switch to ON (II).

-2. Check the volume and voice feedback setting for the navigation system in set-up.

Is either set to OFF?
-YES- Set the voice feedback to ON, and select an audible level for the volume.
-NO- Go to step 2.

2. Determine possible failure area (audio system, navigation system):

Determine possible failure area (audio system, navigation system)
-1. Check that the audio system is operating normally, from different audio sources (AM/FM and CD) and the speaker sound levels are normal.

Does the audio system work normally, and is the audio output from the speaker normal when playing various audio sources?
-YES- Go to step 3.
-YES- Replace the audio-navigation unit Audio-Navigation Unit Removal and Installation.
-NO- Refer to the audio system Symptom Troubleshooting.

3. Shorted wire check (AMP_MUTE line):

-1. Turn the ignition switch to LOCK (0).

-2. Disconnect the following connectors.





-3. Check for continuity between test points 1 and 2.









Is there continuity?
-YES- Repair a short to body ground in the wire between the stereo amplifier and the audio-navigation unit.
-NO- Go to step 4.

4. Open wire check (AMP_MUTE line):

-1. Check for continuity between test points 1 and 2.









Is there continuity?
-YES- Go to step 5.
-NO- Repair an open in the wire between the audio-navigation unit and the stereo amplifier.

5. Audio-navigation unit check:

Audio-navigation unit check
-1. Substitute a known-good stereo amplifier Service and Repair, and recheck.

Does the symptom go away?
-YES- Replace the original stereo amplifier.
-NO- Replace the audio-navigation unit Audio-Navigation Unit Removal and Installation.
