Navigation System Symptom Troubleshooting - Display day/night mode does not work or does not work properly
Display day/night mode does not work or does not work properly
NOTE:
- Turn the headlight, on and check that the dash brightness setting is not set to high.
- Check the connectors for poor connections or loose terminals.
- Always check for and resolve all CAN DTCs before troubleshooting the navigation system.
- Verify that the correct navigation unit is installed for this model. Go into the System Diagnostic Mode, and use the Version.
- Make sure that the correct navigation DVD color and version are installed.
- Inspect the navigation DVD for dirt or damage.
- Before troubleshooting, make sure you have the anti-theft codes for the audio system and the navigation system.
- After troubleshooting, enter the anti-theft codes for the audio system and the navigation system.
- Check any official Honda service website for more service information about the navigation system.
1. Turn the ignition switch to ON (II).
2. Press the Day/Night () button to see if the display changes to day and night modes.
Does the display change to day and night modes when pressing the Day/Night button?
YES -
Go to step 3.
NO -
Go to Interface dial buttons do not work troubleshooting Symptom Troubleshooting.
3. Turn the headlights on, and adjust the dash brightness up and down, then to the middle range.
Does the display change to day and night modes when turning the headlights on and off?
YES -
The system is OK at this time.
NO -
Go to step 4.
4. Check for the hard error code.
Are there any navigation DTCs indicated?
YES -
Troubleshoot the indicated navigation DTC(s).
NO -
Go to step 5.
5. Turn the ignition switch to LOCK (0).
6. Disconnect the navigation display unit 28P connector.
7. Turn the ignition switch to ON (II).
8. With the headlight switch on, measure the voltage between navigation display unit 28P connector terminal No. 28 and body ground.
Is there battery voltage?
YES -
Substitute a known-good navigation display unit Service and Repair, and recheck. If the symptom/indication goes away, replace the original navigation display unit Service and Repair. If the symptom/indication is still present, replace the navigation unit Service and Repair.
NO -
Repair an open or short in the wire between the navigation unit and the passenger's under-dash fuse/relay box.
