Date: January, 2003

ADVANCED SERVICE INFORMATION

Subject:
Remote Keyless Entry (RKE) System Inoperative
(Reprogram Passenger Door Module)

Models:
2003 Cadillac Escalade, Escalade EXT
2003 Chevrolet Avalanche, Silverado, Suburban, Tahoe
2003 GMC Sierra, Yukon, Yukon XL
2003 HUMMER H2

Condition

Some customers may comment that the RKE key fob does not function. This condition may be intermittent.

Cause

RKE key fob becomes unsynchronized with the vehicle.

Correction

To greatly reduce this condition, reprogram the Passenger Door Module with the new service calibration, which was available from Techline starting December 16, 2002 on the TIS2000 version 12.0 or later. This calibration is a electronic calibration and is not available from GMSPO.

After performing the software upgrade, re-synchronize the RKE key fob. Refer to the Transmitter Synchronization procedure in the Keyless Entry sub-section of the Service Manual (SI Document ID # 660745).

Engineering is currently developing a permanent fix. Once this fix is available, this bulletin will be reissued.
