Body - Roof Panel Creaking Noises

Condition

Some customers may comment that a creak occurs when making turns at parking lot speeds, or when driving over uneven surfaces at low speeds.

Cause

There may be a slight movement between the roof panel reinforcement and the outer panel, which causes the creak.

Correction

1. Lower the headliner.





2. Locate the area of the creak. Refer to the LH illustration above.





3. Locate the area of the creak. Refer to the RH illustration above.





4. Using two plastic windshield sticks, slide them between the roof panel and the reinforcement in order to separate the two. Refer to the RH illustration above, LH typical.





5. Install a 13 mm by 13 mm (1X1 inch) piece of high density foam to the left rear side of the sunroof. Refer to the RH illustration above, LH typical.

6. Secure the sunroof and test drive in order to verify the repair.

7. Reinstall the headliner.
