Repair

1. Evenly sand the sunroof lid panel lip by the same 0.75 mm (0.03 in) all the way around its perimeter. Use a dual action sander to remove any surface corrosion on the outer sunroof panel.





2. Sand the paint off the outer panel, all around the lip and the outer 50 mm (2.0 in) of the top of the panel to ensure removal of any hidden surface corrosion.

3. Thoroughly clean the sunroof lid panel and the panel seam with a wax and grease remover such as:

PPG DX-393 (or DX-330 for Volatile Organic Compliant (VOC) areas).

BASF Glasurit 541-5or 541-91 for VOC areas.

4. Apply a wash primer in the panel seam and to the bare metal surfaces. Follow the manufacturer's recommendation for its application.

5. Proceed to the painting section in this TSB.
