Type 2 - Drivers And Passenger Seat
DRIVER'S SEATNOTES:
^ This procedure applies to the driver's seat only.
^ Be sure that the passenger's seat procedure is also performed.
1. The ignition key should already be off and the battery negative terminal should already be removed before continuing. Tilt the seat back as shown in the photo, disconnect the SAB module connector and remove the wire tie from the front of the seat frame. Detach any other wiring as necessary and tilt the seat back far enough to be able to work under it.
NOTE
If you need additional room to work on the underside of the seat, simply remove the headrest and turn the seat upside down over the rear seat.
2. Remove and disc&d the existing connector clip. Install the new connector clip (4) to the seat frame using the existing hole.
3. Snap the SAB connector into the new connector clip.
4. Secure the SAB wire harness to the seat frame with a wire tie (2), mounted in an existing hole next to the clip. Trim the extra wire tie length.
5. Route the air bag wire between the trim cover bands as shown on the photo.
6. Using a wire tie (3), secure the wire to the bottom of the seat spring as shown in the photo and then trim the extra length.
NOTE
Be sure the wire harness is routed in a loop similar to the picture.
7. Push the black corrugated tubing to the bottom of the floor side of the SAB wire harness connector. Tape the connector bottom to the black corrugated tubing using electrical tape.
8. Identify whether the seat has oval mounting holes for the large wire ties. If yes, proceed to step 10.
9. If there is no oval hole, mark the hole location 3" (75 mm) from the edge of the mounting clip, 1-1/4" (30 mm) from the edge of the flange. Using a 9/32" (7 mm) drill bit, drill a hole into the seat frame.
10. Reconnect the connector, use a wire tie to secure the air bag wire harness near the connector. Install wire tie (1) to the left of the connector if there was an existing oval hole, or wire tie (2) if a hole was drilled in step 9. Trim the ends of the wire tie.
NOTE
Vacuum the loose metal chips
11. Lower the seat into its mounting position.
12. Now perform the passenger seat procedure.
