Repair Summary
1. Verify that the vehicle is affected by identifying the vehicle production date and VIN. Identify the service procedure to be used by the production date (Type 1 or Type 2).2. Record the radio station presets, then turn the key off. Wait 30 seconds. Unbolt both front seats, then remove the battery negative(-) cable. Wait 30 seconds.
3. Perform the service procedures for both front seats.
4. Reinstall the front seats. Reconnect the battery. Reset the customer's radio stations. Set the clock to the correct time.
5. After the service procedure has been performed, erase any diagnostic trouble codes using a Hi-Scan Pro. Then disconnect the Hi-Scan Pro and check to see if the SRS light illuminates and any new codes are set. If so, diagnose the cause of the new codes.
TIPS:
When removing the bolt covers from the seat tracks, use a 90° pick to pull the edge of the cover away from the seat track. Repeat for the other side of the cover. Then pull the bolt cover off the end of the seat track.
To release a wire tie from the seat frame, use a pick to push one of the mounting ears inward, then repeat with the other ear. If the wire tie is to be replaced, it can be pried out with a trim removal tool.
To open a wire tie, use a pick to release the tab, then pull the wire tie out. If the wire tie is to be replaced, it can be carefully cut with a wire cutter.
IDENTIFY THE AIR BAG WIRE HARNESS ROUTING UNDER THE SEATS:
UNBOLT BOTH FRONT SEATS:
1. Record the radio station presets. Turn the ignition key off. Wait 30 seconds.
2. Remove the four seat track nut and bolt covers from both front seats.
3. Remove front mounting nuts and rear mounting bolts from both front seats.
4. Position the seat backs straight up.
5. Remove the battery negative terminal. Wait 30 seconds.
