SERVICE PROCEDURE:
NOTE
^ Always record the customers preset radio stations prior to disconnecting the battery negative cable and reset the radio stations and clock after service.
^ Always disconnect the battery before working near the satellite sensor to prevent unintended air bag deployment.
^ Verify that the vehicle is affected by identifying the vehicle production date and VIN.
^ The replacement procedure must be performed for both left and right satellite sensors.
1. Adjust the seats forward and tilt the seat backs up.
NOTE
This will make the access to the satellite sensor easier, especially on power seats.
2. Open the hood and disconnect the battery negative (-) cable.
3. Carefully lift up the left front door scuff trim, unsnapping it from the body.
NOTE
Be careful not to break the trim mounting fasteners and ribs while removing the trim.
4. Unhook the floor carpet mounting clip from the plastic wire harness holder.
5. Slide the floor carpet out from under the center pillar lower trim as shown.
6. Unplug the satellite sensor connector by pushing the locking tab downward using a flathead screwdriver as shown in the photo. Be careful not to push too hard on the tab to avoid breaking it.
NOTE
Do not pull on the sensor connector without releasing the locking tab. Do not pull on the wires, pull on the connector housing.
7. Remove the satellite sensor mounting bolts (2 each) using a socket wrench (10 mm) and then remove the satellite sensor from the mounting bracket.
8. Install the new satellite sensor to the bracket and then tighten the satellite sensor mounting bolts.
9. Firmly connect the satellite sensor connector to the satellite sensor until a click is heard.
10. Reinstall all removed components in reverse order of removal.
11. Perform the above procedure to also replace the right satellite sensor.
12. Connect the battery negative cable.
13. Turn the ignition key ON. Reset the customers radio presets. Set the clock to the correct time.
14. Use the Hi-Scan Pro to erase any diagnostic trouble codes. Disconnect the Hi-Scan Pro and check that the air bag light flashes 6 times and then turns off. If the light does not do this, diagnose the system as per TSB # 00-90-008.
