SHIFTLOCK AND KEYLOCK CABLE ADJUSTMENT
FOR VEHICLES WITH SHIFTRONIC(R)

This bulletin is issued to inform you of the adjustment procedure for the cable operated Keylock and Shiftlock mechanisms in vehicles equipped with the New Generation Automatic Transaxle with the Shiftronic(R) feature.

Note:
^ For New Generation A/T equipped vehicles without the Shiftronic(R) feature refer to TSB 00-40-004 issued June 30 2000.

Vehicles equipped with the New Generation Automatic Transaxle that may include the Shiftronic(R) feature are:

^ Sonata EF ^ Santa Fe
^ XG300/350 ^ G2003 Tiburon

Service Procedure

Keylock Cable Adjustment

1. Remove the Centre Console Upper Cover.

2. Place the Shift Lever into the Park position.

3. Turn the Ignition Switch to the ON position.

4. Depress the Brake Pedal (with approximately 30 lbs force).





5. Loosen the Keylock Cable (lower cable) adjusting screw and move the Keylock Cable until the Shift Lever can be moved out of the Park position. Tighten the adjusting screw.

6. Release the Brake Pedal and confirm that the Shift Lever cannot be moved out of the Park position.

7. With the Shift Lever in the Park position loosen the Shiftlock Cable (upper cable) adjusting screw.

8. Move the Shiftlock Cable until there is a gap of 12 mm (0.04~0.08 in.) at the Lock mechanism. (See illustration at right.)

9. Tighten the adjusting screw.
