A/C - Set Temperature Display to Fahrenheit

Group: ENGINE ELECTRICAL

Number: 01-97-001

Date: AUGUST 2001

Model:
2002 SONATA

Subject:
2002 SONATA PRE-DELIVERY SERVICE REQUIREMENT

DESCRIPTION:

On some 2002 model year Sonatas equipped with the automatic climate control option, interrupting the 12-volt power supply will cause the HVAC temperature display to default to a Centigrade value. When the vehicle initially arrives at your dealership, the temperature will be displayed in Centigrade due to the fact that the "short connector" or shunt has been left in the open position during transportation from the factory. This bulletin provides the proper procedure for setting the display to Fahrenheit.

SERVICE PROCEDURE:

During the Pre-Delivery Inspection (PDI), the "short connector" must be fully seated to allow interior lights and the audio system to function normally.

The yellow "short connector" is located in the passenger compartment fuse panel and needs to be fully seated to enable the circuits to operate.

After the "short connector" has been fully seated, turn the ignition switch to the run position to activate the HVAC display. Then press both the "AMB" and the blue temperature control buttons simultaneously for approximately 3 seconds. The display will switch from Centigrade to Fahrenheit as the 2 buttons are being pressed.

NOTE:
This procedure for resetting the HVAC temperature display will need to be used any time the 12-volt power supply is interrupted (battery is disconnected or has discharged).
