Ignition Coil: Testing and Inspection

IGNITION COIL







1. Measurement of the primary coil resistance
Connect the negative (-) terminal of a 3 V power supply to terminal 2 of the power transistor; then check whether there is continuity between terminal 3 and terminal 2 when terminal 1 and the positive (+) terminal are connected and disconnected.

L. Ignition Coil:

The ignition power transistor functions to control the ignition timing by controlling the ignition coil primary current through signals from the PCM.

Replace the power transistor if there is malfunction.




2. Measurement of the secondary coil resistance
Measure the resistance between the high-voltage terminals of the ignition coil.
