INFORMATION ON ACCENT (1.6L ENGINE)
IM TEST EGR/VVT READINESS
DESCRIPTION:
This TSB provides information regarding the ECM reporting of EGR/VVT readiness status for 2007 MY ACCENT vehicles equipped with the 1.6L engine.
CONDITION:
Some 2007MY ACCENT vehicles report the EGRANT readiness as being "unsupported", while other vehicles report this readiness as being "supported." This may cause some confusion or impact State inspection and maintenance (IM) programs.
^ Originally, all 2007MY ACCENT vehicles reported EGR/VVT readiness as "unsupported" even though they are equipped with VVT system monitors.
^ ACCENT vehicles began reporting EGRANT readiness as "supported" with the 2009MY
^ Hyundai conducted a field fix on some of the 2007 MY vehicles (TSB NO's: 10-FL-003 and 10-FL-004) regarding DTC P0300 that involved an ECM (electronic control module) update. However, Hyundai inadvertently included the 2009MY software readiness change, so vehicles that received this field fix now report the EGRANT readiness as being "supported."
NOTE:
Some older scan tools or inspection equipment may list the readiness solely as 'EGR' monitor readiness, but it was officially expanded and renamed to 'EGR/VVT' monitor readiness and reflects the status of EGR monitor(s) and/or VVT monitor(s), whichever is applicable to the vehicle.
APPLICABILITY:
^ Model: 2007MY ACCENT vehicles equipped with the 1.6L engine.
SERVICE INFORMATION:
^ State IM programs and inspectors may see a portion of the affected vehicles reporting EGR/VVT readiness as "unsupported as well as a portion reporting "supported" (those that had an ECM Update).
^ Some vehicles may change from reporting "unsupported" to "supported" between inspections if they had an ECM Update performed between the inspections. By using the Table at the end of this bulletin, the calibration identification number (CAL ID) can be used to confirm whether the vehicle should report "unsupported" or "supported" as shown here:
