B1493 PODS(Passenger Occupant Detecting System) Communication error - General Information

General Description

In order to make normal activation of airbag system, SRSCM monitors the Passenger side Body sensor.
If the seat is accupied, Bodysense sensor detects how passenger weighs and send signal to ACU via CAN.
ACU rcognizes the signal as 3(three) different classifications; that is, 0(Empty), 1(Small), 2(Large).With these signal, ACU determines whether it needs to deploy PAB(Passenger Airbag) or not.

DTC Description

The SRSCM sets DTC B1493 if there is any error in communication between Passenger side PODS-F sensor Mat & ECU and SRSCM.
DTC is set if Airbag ECU can't receives any message from Passenger side PODS-F sensor Mat & ECU via CAN communication (No communication)
