Airbag(Event #1)
B137300 Passenger airbag active vent resistance too high - General Information
Component Location
General Description
*Configuration and working principle of Passenger airbag active vent
Configuration and working principle of Passenger airbag active vent
Passenger Air bag module (hereinafter referred to PAB) is located in the passenger crash pad.
This PAB contains 2 firing squibs of airbag and 1 firing squib of active vent.
Depending of crash speed or the tightening of seat belt, it is decided a timing about both 2 firing squibs of airbag and 1 firing squib of active vent.
These operations reduce a injury of passengers head.
At first, the active vent sets a rapid deployment of airbag by keeping the pressure. after deployment of airbag it emits the gases of upper airbag.
The Working Principle of Tether Cutter : When receive an electrical signal, Tether Cutter cuts a strap which is been attached Active vent in order to open a hole of upper airbag.
*The working range of Active Vent
1) If occupant in passenger seat is not belted, active vent is disposed in the end of crash event regardless of crash severity
2) If occupant is belted and crash severe enough to require 2nd stage passenger airbag deployment is occurred, active vent is activated to optimize occupant protection
3) Low-Speed + Belted : Inflator of Primary Fire + 2nd Stage & Active Vent disposal in the end of crash event.
CAUTION:
Never measure resistance of PAB directly, Current of measuring device may cause unexpected air bag deploy.
DTC Description
The SRSCM sets DTC B137300 if the measured resistance value of Passenger airbag active vent circuit is more than the threshold value.
*In this case, SRSCM checks if there's any fault in circuit by sending current for a while
