SERVICE PROCEDURE:

1. Open the left front door and remove the rear door connector (FD31). Pull the protective boot away from the connector to expose the wiring.

2. Locate the wiring for the rear heated seat switch illumination (gray wire in cavity 22).

3. Using a wire cutter tool, cut the rear heated seat switch illumination gray wire as close to the connector as possible, be careful not to cause damage to the surrounding wires.

4. Use approximately one inch piece of appropriate-sized heat shrink tubing or electrical tape. Cover/wrap the end of the newly cut gray wire such that no wire strands are exposed.

5. Fold the newly wrapped/protected wire along the harness bundle and wrap with a band of electrical tape sufficient for two (2) full revolutions around the wire bundle.

6. Reconnect connector FD31 back to the floor harness connector. Install the protective boot and ensure it is fully seated to the B-pillar.

7. Repeat steps 1 through 6 for the right rear door harness and connector FD41.

8. For key-start vehicles, insert key and turn to the "ON" position. For SMART key vehicles, place SMART key fob inside vehicle. Without applying the brakes, press the Start Stop Button (SSB) two times to turn the vehicle "ON". Turn the Multifunction Switch (headlamp / turn signal) to "PARKING LIGHT" or "HEADLIGHT" and adjust the rheostat (dimmer) to the lowest setting.

9. Cycle the Multifunction Switch from "OFF" to either "PARKING LIGHT" or "HEADLIGHT" while observing the backlight illumination of the clock.

If the backlight illumination cycles with the Multifunction Switch, the repair is complete.

If the backlight illumination does not cycle with the Multifunction Switch, verify the condition of the Module 3 (7.5A) and Memory (1OA) fuses in the vehicles Smart Junction Box.
