Service Procedure

Service Procedure:





1. Lift the vehicle on a hoist and remove the front wheel and tire assembly (A).

NOTE
Lug nut tightening torque:
88.3-107.9 Nm (9.0-11.0 kgf.m, 65.1-79.6 lb-ft)








2. Un-stake the hub lock nut (B).





3. Remove the hub nut (C).





4. Remove the wheel speed sensor harness nut and bolt (D and E).

NOTE
Tightening torque:

D: 4.9-5.9 Nm (0.5-0.6 kgf.m, 3.6-4.3 lb-ft)

E: 11.8-14.7 Nm (1.2-1.5 kgf.m, 8.7-10.9 lb-ft)





5. Remove the wheel speed sensor harness mounting clip at the knuckle.





6. Remove the wheel speed sensor mounting bolt (F) and wheel speed sensor.

NOTE
Tightening torque:

6.9-10.8 Nm (0.7-1.1 kgf.m, 5.0-8.0 lb-ft)





7. Remove the front strut mounting bolts and nuts (G).

NOTE
Tightening torque:

137.3-156.9 Nm (14.0-16.0 kgf.m, 101.3-115.7 lb-f).





8. Separate the drive shaft (H) and the knuckle assembly.

NOTE
Take caution that the brake lines are not stressed by the weight of the caliper knuckle assembly.





9. Remove and discard the drive shaft washer (I).





Drive shaft washer removed.





10. Install the replacement drive shaft washer (J).

11. Reinstall all removed parts (except for wheel and tire assembly) in reverse order of removal.





12. Start the engine. Depress and hold the brake pedal while tightening the hub nut using a torque wrench to the specified torque.

NOTE
Tightening torque:

196.1-274.5 Nm (20.0-28.0 kgf.m, 144.6-202.5 lb-ft)





13. Stake the hub nut using a chisel (K) and hammer.

Reinstall the wheel and tire assembly to complete the procedure.





14. Repeat steps 1 through 13 for the other side of the vehicle.
