SERVICE INFORMATION
If there is a clunk noise coming from the front of an Applied Vehicle while braking and turning, the cause may be a part of the front disc brake hardware kit (see Figure 1). This incident, if it occurs, may be most noticeable when entering or exiting a parking lot.
To resolve this specific incident, if it occurs, perform the service procedure below.
NOTE:
For brake noise incidents other than the exact one specified above, refer to ITB00-024, Brake Noise/Judder/Pedal Feel Diagnosis and Repair.
SERVICE PROCEDURE
1. Refer to the BR section of the appropriate Service Manual for Front Disc Brake Pad Replacement.
2. Mark the disc brake pad location (left inside, left outside, right inside, right outside) for later reference.
3. Inspect the components for wear and serviceability.
NOTE:
Rotor resurfacing and/or brake pad replacement is not required as part of this bulletin.
4. Install the Brake Hardware kit listed in the Parts Information section of this bulletin.
CAUTION:
If the brake pads are not being replaced, they must be reinstalled in their original locations (see step 2).
5. Reassemble the vehicle according to the BR section of the appropriate Service Manual. Be sure to use PBC grease or silicone grease as instructed in the Service Manual.
6. Torque lug nuts to 98 - 118 Nm (10 - 12 kgm, 72 - 87 ft lb) using a torque wrench.
CAUTION:
DO NOT use an impact wrench to tighten lug nuts.
7. Test drive after the installation to ensure customer satisfaction, safety and proper brake performance.
