Radiator Cooling Fan Motor: Description and Operation

The cooling fan is controlled by the cooling fan relay.

When the specified temperature is reached, the radiator thermal switch contacts close, thereby grounding the relay. The relay in turn supplies battery voltage to the cooling fan.
