Removal/Installation
1. Center steering wheel and remove ignition key.2. Install a hose clamp on the power steering pump feed hose.
3. Raise and support vehicle, then remove brake caliper lower securing bolt cover.
4. Loosen and remove tie rod to steering arm securing nut.
5. Install ball joint separator tool No. JD 100 on tie rod end, then tighten tool center bolt to separate tie rod end.
6. Remove tool and repeat procedure on opposite side tie rod.
7. Remove steering rack gaiter heat shields.

8. Remove bolt (1) and nut (2) securing lower column (3) to steering rack pinion (4), Fig. 7.
9. Remove rack feed pipe to sump mounting bracket securing screw.
10. Place a suitable drain tray below steering rack. Loosen rack fluid supply line union nut.
11. Disconnect fluid supply line and allow to drain.
12. Remove return line securing clip. Remove return line to rack tube mounting block.
13. Loosen return line to rack union nut. Disconnect return line from rack and allow to drain.
14. Loosen but do not remove steering rack mounting bolts.
15. Disconnect lower steering column from rack pinion.
16. Remove and discard steering rack mounting bolts.
17. Remove steering rack from vehicle.
18. Reverse procedure to install, noting the following:
a. Center new rack with tool No. JD 120 or equivalent.
b. Use new steering rack mounting bolts.
c. Tighten to specifications.
d. Fill and bleed power steering system.
e. Check and adjust steering wheel alignment.
