Coil Spring, Rear



Rear Road Spring, Remove & Refit

^ Jack up vehicle securely on two stands.

^ Remove wheel / tire assembly.

^ Remove brake calliper guide pin caps.

^ Undo and remove calliper housing pins and housing spring.

^ Remove the calliper piston assembly and the outer brake pad.

^ Remove bolt securing the ABS sensor to hub.

^ Mark relationship of hub fulcrum bolt to wishbone.

^ Undo and remove hub fulcrum bolt and nut.

^ Move hub towards the rear of the vehicle and support on a wooden block.





^ Remove hub fulcrum bearing adjustment shims and position spring compressor service tools JD 199 (1 Fig. 1) to front.

^ Fit and align tools to rear spring and tighten tool centre bolts evenly to compress spring.

^ Ensure tool jaws are sitting correctly on springs.

^ Undo and remove nut securing damper assembly to wishbone shaft.

^ Remove strut lower shaft.

^ Undo and remove nuts securing damper assembly mounting plate to body.

^ Secure mounting plate to road spring using retaining straps JO 199-1 (2 Fig. 1).

^ Using a suitable jack (3 Fig.1) and spacer (4 Fig. 1), compress damper up through the wishbone and insert a suitable bolt (5 Fig. 1) through coils of spring and damper lower bush.

^ Lower jack and remove spring/damper assembly (6 Fig. 1) from vehicle.

^ Compress damper to remove bolt from spring coils.

^ Remove retaining straps JD 199-1 from mounting/bracket spring.

^ Position spring/compressor assembly on a bench, mark location of compressor tools on spring.

^ Undo spring compressors evenly and remove from springs.

^ Refit in reverse order to removal procedures
