Front Suspension Knock - Stabilizer Bar Contact - Increase Clearance
ISSUE:
Contact may occur between the front stabilizer bar and the front suspension springs on XJR models within the above VIN range.
Starting with VIN 760730, all XJR models receive an additional check during production for adequate clearance (approximately 0.098" [2.5 mm]) between the stabilizer bar and the front springs. When necessary, a shim is installed between each stabilizer bar mounting bracket and the front axle crossbeam to increase the clearance.
ACTION:
In case of a customer complaint of front suspension knock on XJR models within the above VIN range, check for evidence of contact between the stabilizer bar and the front springs. If contact has occurred, install one shim only between each stabilizer bar bracket and the front beam along with longer mounting bolts.
Retaining bolt torque: 18.4 +/-2.2 lb. ft. (25 +/-3 Nm.)
