When removing the front door handles, it is important not to use excessive force when detaching the linkage from the key link arm. The connection of the front door key linkage to the lock cylinder is critical. To eliminate the possibility of damaging the linkage when servicing the door handle, follow the procedure outlined below.

The repair procedures detailed below were developed as an element of the Land Rover Way OPERATION PRIDE. This TIB provides a library location for PRIDE information within the Land Rover North America technical literature system.

ACTION REQUIRED

Upon customer complaint for the symptoms outlined, perform the specified repairs.

PARTS INFORMATION

Retaining Clip, P/N MTC9290

PROCEDURE

Perform the procedure outlined for the repair of the front door handle/key linkage.

REMOVAL

Refer to Workshop Manual section 76, pages 14 and 15, for exterior front door handle removal.





To disconnect the linkage from the handle, destroy the retaining clip by inserting a thin blade screwdriver (see illustration), and bending its fingers away from the linkage.

! Never remove the linkage by force.
Never reuse the retaining clip.

INSTALLATION

1. Slip a new retaining clip (P/N MTC9290) on the door handle.

2. Install the linkage, making sure that the fingers are seated in the groove.
