DETAIL

The following symptoms may be experienced if a tailgate seal is fitted incorrectly or it is deformed:

1. Damp carpet

2. An accumulation of water in the spare wheel well.

3. Misting up in the rear of the vehicle.

ACTION REQUIRED

Upon customer complaint of the above symptoms, check the tailgate aperture seal to ensure it is correctly positioned on the seal flange and is not deformed.

PROCEDURE





Inspect the tailgate aperture seal paying particular attention to the top corners, to ensure that the seal is pushed fully onto the flange and that the carrier is not deformed or spread.

In addition check that the seal is correctly positioned so that the damper slugs within the seal are in the correct location as noted by the arrows on the illustration.

If any damage or deformation is evident replace the seal, taking care to ensure it is correctly positioned and fitted.

If the seal is removed ensure that the mounting flange is even, and there are no sharp edges.
