A clicking noise when opening and closing any of the doors can be caused by a low torque of the check strap securing bolts. All vehicles within the above VIN range that have not been checked at the Ports should have these bolts tightened to the correct torque.

The vehicles that the Ports have checked will have a white paint mark on the top bolt of the drivers door check strap. This will indicate that all bolts have been checked, and no further action is required. If there is no mark then carry out the procedure below.

ACTION REQUIRED

Upon customer complaint, at PD or on the next service visit, tighten the check strap bolts to the correct torque.

PROCEDURE





1. Check for the presence of a white paint mark on the head of the top bolt, on the drivers door check strap. If a mark is visible no further action is required. Otherwise, continue with this procedure.

2. Tighten all check strap bolts on all four doors to 3 - 4.5 lb.ft (4-6 Nm).

3. Mark the head of the top bolt on the drivers door check strap with white paint.
