Land Rover has identified a possible defect in the engine drive belt idler pulley fitted to a number of Range Rover 4.0 SE vehicles. As a result all vehicles within the above VIN range will have the idler pulley replaced with a revised design pulley.
ACTION REQUIRED
Carry out the procedure below on all vehicles within the above VIN range. when completed identify the completion of the recall in the owners Passport to Service booklet.

(ERR446O - Drive Belt, if required)
PROCEDURE
1. Remove the ignition key from the ignition lock.
2. Remove upper fan cowl.
3. Remove fan and viscous unit using service tool LRT-12-094. If the unit does not break free it may be necessary to use a long screw driver as a lever to hold the water pump pulley stationary.
4. Rotate tensioner to release tension from the drive belt. Remove the belt and inspect it for damage. Replace the belt if necessary.
5. Remove the idler pulley ERR 4348 and discard.
6. Fit the new idler pulley noting that the letter 'F' stamped on the face of the pulley faces to the front of the vehicle. Refit the original pulley bolt and tighten to 30 - 37 lb. ft. (40-50 Nm).
7. Refit the drive belt ensuring that it is correctly located on all pulleys.
8. Refit the fan and viscous unit using the same service tool, LRT-12-094.
9. Refit the fan cowl.
10. Complete and install a Service Campaign label on the hood locking panel just above the right hand head lamp. Cover the label with a clear acrylic protective film.
11. Complete the owners Passport to Service booklet.
