DETAIL

The spare wheel cover rests on 5 carpet retainers. The contact area between the cover and the retainers can cause an audible squeak. Follow the procedure below to create a clearance between the two surfaces.

ACTION REQUIRED

If at dealer PDI, or upon customer complaint a squeak is heard from the spare wheel area, check the spare wheel cover to determine if it is the source of the noise. If so create a clearance between the load space cover base and the 5 carpet retainers, by following the process below.

PROCEDURE

1. Remove the spare wheel cover from the vehicle.

2. Mark out the five contact points between the base of the cover and the five retainers.





3. Create a cut out (approx 40 mm x 3 mm, 1-5/8 x 1/8") using a sharp knife or file, as shown in the illustration.

4. Re-install cover and ensure it does not rest on the retainers.
