DETAIL

On vehicles in the above VIN range it is possible for the upper windscreen finisher to lift away from the "A" post trim finishers. Apart from the obvious unsightly appearance of the finisher, this can cause wind noise at the tops of the "A" posts. To overcome this problem, a new finisher has been introduced. The overall length of the finisher has been increased by 5/16 (8 mm) at each end. This increase in length will allow the upper windscreen finisher to sit underneath both "A" post finishers, giving a more secure fit, and better cosmetic appearance.

ACTION REQUIRED

Upon customer complaint of the upper windscreen finisher coming loose from the "A" post finishers, replace the finisher with the new type.

PARTS INFORMATION

PROCEDURE

Renew windscreen upper finisher:

1) Open both front doors.

2) Remove the top 2 screws securing the A post finishers. These are found under the secondary flip seal on each side. Loosen the third fixing screw down and ease the A post finishers out to expose the end of the upper windscreen finisher. (see illustration A.)

Caution:
Take care not to damage the cantrail seal which is attached to the side finishers.

3) Insert a thin plastic strip such as a credit card between the windscreen upper finisher and the roof panel.

Care point:
Position protection on roof panel.

4) Disengage the 8 clips securing the upper finisher to the body by sliding the plastic strip towards the left side of the vehicle. The clips must move about 3/8" (10 mm) in order to release. The clips stay with the finisher when removing.
