Inspection Procedure Using LEXUS Hand Held Tester
PROCEDURE USING LEXUS HAND HELD TESTER
1. Connect the LEXUS hand-held tester and check operation of air conditioning cut control.
- Remove the fuse cover on the instrument panel. Connect the LEXUS hand-held tester to the Data Link Connector 3.
- Turn ignition switch ON and LEXUS hand- held tester main switch ON. Start the engine and air conditioning switch ON.
- Select the active test mode on the LEXUS hand-held tester.
- Check operation of A/C clutch magnet cut when air conditioning cut control is operated by the LEXUS hand-held tester.
A/C clutch magnet is turned OFF.
- If OK proceed to DIAGNOSIS BY SYMPTOM.
- If not OK proceed to step 2.
2. Check for open and short in harness and connector between Engine Control Module and A/C amplifier.
- If OK proceed to step 3.
- If not OK repair or replace harness or connector.
3. Check voltage between terminal ACT of Engine Control Module and body ground.
- Remove glove compartment. Start the engine.
- Measure voltage between terminal ACT of Engine Control Module connector and body ground when A/C switch is turned to ON and OFF.
A/C switch ON: 4.5 - 5.5 volts
A/C switch OFF: 0.0 - 2.0 volts
- If OK check and replace Engine Control Module.
- If not OK check and replace A/C amplifier.
