Sub Heated Oxygen Sensor
INSPECTION1. Verify Data Trouble code 27.
- Cancel Diagnostic Trouble Code 27.
- Allow the engine to warm up to normal operating temperature.
- Drive for 5 minutes or more between 80 km/h (50 mph) and 100 km/h (62 mph) in "D" positon.
- Following the conditions in the above step, press fully on the accelerator pedal for 2 seconds or more.
NOTE: Do not exceed 100 km/h (62 mph), or the Diagnostic Trouble Code will be cancelled.
- Stop the vehicle, and turn the Ignition Switch to OFF.
- Carry out the above steps again to test acceleration.
- If code No. 27 reappears again, check the Sub Heated Oxygen Sensor circuit. If the circuit is normal, replace the Sub Heated Oxygen Sensor.
2. Disconnect cable from negative terminal of battery.
NOTE: Turn the Ignition Switch to "LOCK". Disconnect the cable from the negative (-) terminal from the battery. Wait 90 seconds before proceeding with work.
3. Remove transmission shift lever knob.
- Push down the lever cover.
- Remove the 2 screws and shift lever knob.
- Remove the lever cover.
4. Automatic transmission models:
- Using a screwdriver, pry out the rear side of the cup holder. Remove the cup holder.
- Using a screwdriver, pry out the upper rear console panel.
- Remove the 6 mounting screws.
- Using a screwdriver, pry out the upper console panel.
5. Disconnect the Oxygen Sensor connector.
6. Inspect heater resistance of the Oxygen Sensor.
- Using an ohmmeter, measure the resistance between the terminals +B and HT.
Resistance: 11 - 16 ohms at 20°C (68°F)
7. If the resistance is not as specified, replace the sensor as follows;
- Disconnect the grommet from the floor panel and pull out the wire of the Oxygen Sensor from the floor panel.
- Remove the two nuts, cover and Oxygen Sensor from the front exhaust pipe.
- Install a new gasket, a new Oxygen Sensor and the cover to the front exhaust pipe with the two nuts.
Torque: 18 Nm (13 ft lb)
- Run the wire of the Oxygen Sensor through th hole in the floor panel and reconnect the Oxygen Sensor connector.
- Reinstall the console panels and shift knob.
8. Reconnect cable to negative terminal of battery.
