Fuel Pressure Regulator: Service and Repair
PROCEDURECAUTION: After affecting any repair that requires disassembly of fuel related components, inspect carefully for fuel leaks upon completion.
Removal
1. Disconnect the vacuum sensing hose from the Fuel Pressure Regulator.
2. Disconnect the fuel return pipe from the Fuel Pressure Regulator.
- Place a suitable container under the Regulator.
- Slowly loosen the the union bolt.
- Remove the union bolt and two gaskets, disconnect the fuel pipe from the Fuel Pressure Regulator.
3. Remove the Fuel Pressure Regulator.
- Remove the two bolts and the Fuel Pressure Regulator.
- Remove the O-ring from the Fuel Pressure Regulator.
Installation
1. Install the Fuel Pressure Regulator.
- Apply a light coat of gasoline to a new O-ring and install it on the Fuel Pressure Regulator.
- Attach the Fuel Pressure Regulator to the delivery pipe.
- Check that the Fuel Pressure Regulator rotates smoothly.
NOTE: If it does not rotate smoothly, the O-ring may be pinched. If so remove the Fuel Pressure Regulator and perform above steps again.
- Install the Fuel Pressure Regulator with the two bolts.
Torque: 8.8 Nm (78 in lb)
2. Connect the fuel return pipe to the Fuel Pressure Regulator with two new gaskets and the union bolt.
Torque: 27 Nm (20 ft lb)
3. Connect the vacuum sensing hose to the Fuel Pressure Regulator.
4. Start the engine and check for fuel leaks.
