Variable Induction Control Solenoid: Service and Repair
PROCEDURERemoval
1. Disconnect negative terminal cable from battery.
CAUTION: Work must be started after 90 seconds from the time the ignition switch is turned to the LOCK position and the negative (-) terminal cable is disconnected from the battery.
2. Models with Automatic Transmission: remove oil dipstick and guide for A/T.
- Remove the bolt.
- Pull out the dipstick guide together with the dipstick.
- Remove the O-ring from the dipstick guide.
3. Remove Vacuum Tank and Vacuum Switching Valve assembly.
- Remove the 2 nuts, and disconnect the vacuum tank from the intake manifold.
- Disconnect the following connector and hoses, and remove the vacuum tank and Vacuum Switching Valve assembly:
- Vacuum Switching Valve connector (1)
- Vacuum hose from port B of vacuum tank (2)
- Vacuum hose (from actuator) from Vacuum Switching Valve (3)
4. Remove Vacuum Switching Valve from Vacuum Tank.
- Disconnect the vacuum hose from port F of the Vacuum Switching Valve.
- Remove the screw and Vacuum Switching Valve.
Installation
1. Reinstall Vacuum Switching Valve to vacuum tank.
- Install the Vacuum Switching Valve with the screw.
- Connect the vacuum hose to port F of the Vacuum Switching Valve.
2. Reinstall Vacuuum Tank and Vacuum Switching Valve assembly.
- Connect the following connector and hoses:
- Vacuum Switching Valve connector (1)
- Vacuum hose to port B of vacuum tank (2)
- Vacuum hose (from actuator) to Vacuum Switching Valve (3)
- Install the Vacuum Tank and Vacuum Switching Valve assembly with the 2 nuts.
Torque: 21 Nm (15 ft lb)
3. Automatic Transmission models: Reinstall oil dipstick and guide for A/T.
- Install a new O-ring on the dipstick guide.
- Apply soapy water on the O-ring.
- Connect the dipstick guide end to the oil pan.
- Install the dipstick and guide with the bolt.
4. Reconnect negative terminal cable to battery.
