Pick-Up Coil: Service and Repair


REMOVAL

1. Disconnect negative terminal cable from battery.

CAUTION: Work must be started after 90 seconds from the time the ignition switch is turned to the LOCK position and the negative (-) terminal cable is disconnected from the battery.





2. Disconnect distributor connector.
3. Disconnect high-tension cords from distributor.

NOTICE: Pulling on or bending the cords may damage the conductor inside.

4. Set number one cylinder to TDC/Compression.
- Remove the oil filler cap.





- Look through the oil fill hole and turn the crankshaft clockwise until the cam nose can be seen.





- Turn the crankshaft counterclockwise approximately 120°.
- Turn the crankshaft again clockwise approximately 10° to 40° so that the timing belt cover TDC mark and the crankshaft pulley TDC mark are aligned.

Distributor Nut:





5. Remove distributor.
- Remove the nut.





- Pull out the distributor.
- Remove the o-ring from the Distributor housing.

INSTALLATION

1. Set No. 1 cylinder to TDC compression.





2. Install a new Distributor o-ring and coat lightly with oil. Install Distributor.





- Align the groove of the Distributor Housing with the protrusion on the drive gear.





- Insert the Distributor, aligning the center of the flange with that of the stud bolt on the cylinder head.
- Temporarily secure with the hold down nut.
3. Connect Distributor connector.
4. Connect High Tension Cables.
