Front
REMOVAL
1. Remove the front wheel.
NOTE: When installing the front wheel, tighten it to 103 Nm (76 ft. lbs.).
2. Remove the brake caliper after doing the following.
a. Remove the two bolts and caliper from the steering knuckle.
NOTE: When installing the caliper bolts, tighten them to 118 Nm (87 ft. lbs.).
b. Support the brake caliper securely.
3. Disconnect the ABS speed sensor and the wire harness after doing the following.
a. Remove the bolt, then the ABS speed sensor.
NOTE: When installing the ABS speed sensor, tighten it to 7.8 Nm (69 inch lbs.).
b. Remove the two bolts and the ABS speed sensor wire harness.
NOTE: When installing the bolts, tighten them to 5.0 Nm (44 inch lbs.).
4. Disconnect the upper suspension arm from the steering knuckle, after doing the following.
a. Remove the clip and nut.
NOTE: When installing the clip and nut, tighten them to 87 Nm (64 ft. lbs.).
b. Using the 09610 - 20010 SST, disconnect the upper suspension arm from the steering knuckle.
5. Disconnect the stabilizer bar from the stabilizer bar link.
a. Remove the bolt and nut, and disconnect the stabilizer bar from the stabilizer bar link.
NOTE: When installing the link, tighten them to 55 Nm (41 ft. lbs.).
b. Remove the 2 stabilizer bar bracket set bolts.
NOTE: When installing the brackets, tighten them to 55 Nm (41 ft. lbs.).
6. Remove the front shock absorber.
a. Remove the bolt and nut, and disconnect the shock absorber from the lower suspension arm.
Installation Hint: After stabilizing the suspension tighten the nut to 157 Nm (116 ft. lbs.).
b. Loosen the piston rod lock nut.
NOTE:
^ Do not remove it.
^ When tightening the nut, tighten it to 27 Nm (20 ft. lbs.).
c. Remove the three nuts and shock absorber from the body.
NOTE: When installing the nuts, tighten them to 56 Nm (41 ft. lbs.).
DISASSEMBLY
NOTE: Remove the suspension support and the coil spring by doing these procedures.
a. Using the 09727 - 30021 SST, compress the coil spring.
NOTE: Do not use an impact wrench. It will damage the SST.
b. Remove the piston rod lock nut.
c. Remove these parts from the shock absorber, the suspension support, the insulator, spring bumper, and the coil spring.
NOTE:
^ Inspect the shock absorber by compressing and extending the shock absorber rod and check that there is no abnormal resistance or unusual operation sounds.
^ If there is any abnormality, replace the shock absorber with a new one.
^ When discarding the shock absorber, use the following procedures.
ASSEMBLY
1. Install the spring bumper to the suspension support.
2. Install the insulator to the suspension support.
NOTE: Match the bolt of the suspension support with the cut-out part of the insulator.
3. Install the coil spring to the shock absorber, doing the following.
a. Using the 09727 - 30021 SST, compress the coil spring.
NOTE: Do not use an impact wrench, it will damage the SST.
b. Install the coil spring to the shock absorber.
NOTE: Fit the lower end of the coil spring into the recess of the spring seat of the shock absorber.
4. Install the suspension support.
a. Install the suspension support to the rod.
b. Temporarily tighten a new lock nut.
c. Align the suspension support with the shock absorber lower bolt, as shown.
5. Remove the SST.
NOTE: After removing the SST, recheck the direction of the suspension support.
INSTALLATION
Install in the reverse order of removal, noting the following:
- check the ABS speed sensor signal
- check the front wheel alignment
