Rear





REMOVAL
1. Remove the luggage compartment trim front cover and the floor mat.
2. Remove the rear wheel.

NOTE: When installing the rear wheel, tighten it to 103 Nm (76 ft. lbs.).

3. Remove the rear brake caliper, doing the following.
a. Remove the two bolts and brake caliper from the rear axle carrier.

NOTE: When installing the rear caliper, tighten the bolts to 104 Nm (77 ft. lbs.).

b. Support the brake caliper securely.

4. Remove the nut and disconnect the stabilizer bar link from the No.2 lower suspension arm.

NOTE: When installing the link, tighten it to 44 Nm (33 ft. lbs.).

5. Remove the shock absorber with the coil spring.
a. Remove the nut and bolt on the lower side of the shock absorber.

Installation Hint: After stabilizing the suspension, tighten the nut to 137 Nm (101 ft. lbs.).

b. Loosen the nut in the middle of the suspension support.

NOTE:
^ Do not remove the nut.
^ When tightening the nut, tighten it to 27 Nm (20 ft. lbs.).





c. Remove the three nuts, suspension support seat and shock absorber with the coil spring.

NOTE: When installing the three nuts, tighten them to 27 Nm (20 ft. lbs.).





DISASSEMBLY
1. Using the 09727 - 30021 Special Service Tool (SST), compress the coil spring.

NOTE: Do not use an impact wrench. It will damage the SST.

2. Remove the suspension support nut.
3. Remove these parts from the shock absorber, the suspension support, the coil spring, rear spring bumper sub-assembly, and the lower insulator.





4. Inspect the shock absorber by compressing and extending the shock absorber rod and check that there is no abnormal resistance or unusual operation sounds. If there is any abnormality. replace the shock absorber with a new one.

NOTE: When discarding the shock absorber use the following procedures.

ASSEMBLY
1. Install the lower insulator to the shock absorber.
2. Install the spring bumper sub-assembly to the suspension support.





3. Using the 09727 - 30021 Special Service Tool (SST), compress the coil spring.

NOTE: Do not use an impact wrench, it will damage the SST.

4. Install the coil spring to the shock absorber.

NOTE: Fit the lower end of the coil spring into the recess of the spring seat of the shock absorber.

5. Install the suspension support to the rod and temporarily tighten a new nut.





6. Rotate the suspension support so that the rod and one of the bolts on suspension support are aligned with the lower bracket.
7. Remove the SST.

NOTE: After removing the SST, recheck the direction of the suspension support.

INSTALLATION
Install in the reverse order of removal, noting the following:
- check the rear wheel alignment.
