COMPONENTS FOR REMOVAL AND INSTALLATION

Heated Oxygen Sensors (Bank 1, 2 Sensor2)

HEATED OXYGEN SENSORS (BANK 1, 2 SENSOR 2) INSPECTION

1. INSPECT HEATED OXYGEN SENSORS (BANK 1, 2 SENSOR 2)
(a) Cancel diagnostic trouble code.
(b) Allow the engine to warm up to normal operating temperature.
(c) Drive for 5 minutes or more between 80 km/h (50 mph) and 100 km/h (62 mph) in "D" position.
(d) Following the conditions in step (c), press fully on the accelerator pedal for 2 seconds or more.

HINT: Do not exceed 100 km/h (62 mph), or diagnostic trouble code will be cancelled.

(e) Stop the vehicle and turn the ignition switch to OFF.
(f) Carry out steps (b), (c) and (d) again to test acceleration.
If code Nos. 27 and 29 reappears again, check the 2 heated oxygen sensor circuit. If the circuit is normal, replace the heated oxygen sensor.
2. REMOVE RADIO WITH A/C CONTROL PANEL
3. INSPECT HEATER RESISTANCE OF HEATED OXYGEN SENSORS (BANK 1, 2 SENSOR 2)
(a) Disconnect the 2 oxygen sensor connectors.





(b) Using an ohmmeter, measure the resistance between terminals +B and HT.

Resistance: 11 - 16 Ohm at 20°C (68°F):

If the resistance is not as specified, replace the sensor as follows:
- Disconnect the wire grommet from the floor panel.





- Remove the heated oxygen sensor.
- Reinstall a new heated oxygen sensor.

Torque: 44 N.m (450 kgf.cm, 33 ft.lbf)

- Run the wire of the heated oxygen sensor through the hole in the floor panel.
- Reinstall the wire grommet to the floor panel.
(c) Reconnect the 2 oxygen sensor connectors.
