Removal and Installation





REMOVAL
1. Remove the engine under cover. Remove the 15 bolts.





2. Remove drive belt. Loosen the drive belt tension by turning the drive belt tensioner counterclockwise, and remove the drive belt.
3. Disconnect return hose.

NOTICE: Take care not to spill fluid on the drive belt.

4. Disconnect two vacuum hoses.
5. Disconnect pressure feed tube. Remove the union bolt and gasket.
6. Remove power steering vane pump assembly. Remove the three bolts and the nut.

INSTALLATION

Fig. 34 Pump Bolt Tightening Sequence:





1. Install power steering vane pump assembly. Torque the bolts and nut on the pump assembly in the order shown.
Torque:
Bolt: 39 Nm (29 ft. lbs.).
Nut: 43 Nm (32 ft. lbs.).

2. Connect pressure feed tube. Make sure the stopper of the tube is touching the pump housing. as shown, then torque the union bolt over a new gasket.
Torque: 49 Nm (36 ft. lbs.)





3. Install drive belt. Loosen the drive belt tensioner by turning the drive belt tensioner counterclockwise, and install the belt.
4. Connect two vacuum hoses.
5. Connect return tube.
6. Install engine under cover. Tighten the 15 bolts.
7. Bleed power steering system.
