IMPROVEMENTS TO AUTOMATIC GLARE-RESISTANT EC OUTSIDE REAR VIEW MIRROR

Introduction

Improvements have been made to the outside rear view mirror glass. The bonding process, when the EC terminal for the heater is attached, has been improved.

A field fix is available for outside rear view mirrors that have thermal stress cracks brought about by the mirror heater element.





NOTE:
Do not replace the entire assembly, replacement of outside mirror glass is required for pre-countermeasure parts.

Applicable Vehicles
^ 2001 model year LS 430 vehicles.
^ 2001 model year RX 300 vehicles.

Warranty Information

Applicable Warranty:

This repair is covered under the Lexus Comprehensive Warranty. This warranty is in effect for 48 months or 50,000 miles, whichever occurs first, from the vehicle's in-service date.

* Warranty application is limited to correction of a problem based upon a customer's specific complaint.

Repair Procedure

Remove and replace the outside rear view mirror assembly of affected vehicles using the proper procedures in the body section of the corresponding Repair Manual.





The new part can be identified by the packing date on the part number label as shown.

The packing dates of the modified process parts for the outer mirror assemblies are March 1, 2001.
