Removal and Installation

REPLACEMENT

HINT: Installation is in the reverse order of removal.

1. OBSERVE AIR BAG SYSTEMS SERVICE PRECAUTIONS
2. SHIP MODE SETTING (W/ CD CHANGER)
3. DISCONNECT BATTERY NEGATIVE TERMINAL
4. PLACE FRONT WHEELS FACING STRAIGHT AHEAD
5. REMOVE STEERING WHEEL COVER LOWER NO.2
6. REMOVE CONNECTOR COVER
7. REMOVE HORN BUTTON ASSY
8. REMOVE STEERING WHEEL ASSY
SST 09950-50013 (09951-05010, 09952-05010, 09953-05020, 09954-05021)
9. REMOVE STEERING COLUMN COVER LWR NO.2
10. REMOVE STEERING COLUMN COVER





11. DISCONNECT FRONT PASSENGER AIRBAG ASSY CONNECTOR
(a) Disconnect the connector.

NOTICE: When handling the airbag connector, take care not to damage the airbag wire harness.

12. REMOVE INSTRUMENT PANEL SAFETY PAD SUB-ASSY
13. REMOVE SIDE DEFROSTER NOZZLE DUCT NO.2
14. REMOVE SIDE DEFROSTER NOZZLE DUCT NO.1
15. REMOVE DEFROSTER NOZZLE ASSY
16. REMOVE HEATER TO REGISTER DUCT NO.2
17. REMOVE HEATER TO REGISTER DUCT NO.1
18. REMOVE HEATER TO REGISTER DUCT NO.3





19. DISCONNECT INSTRUMENT PANEL WIRE NO.2
(a) Remove the clip.
(b) Disconnect the connectors from the front passenger airbag assy.

NOTICE: When handling the airbag connector, take care not to damage the airbag wire harness.

20. REMOVE FRONT PASSENGER AIRBAG ASSY





(a) Remove the 2 screws.





(b) Release the rear side wall of the airbag door from the hook by slightly deflecting it and roll the front passenger airbag assy forward.
(c) Release the front side wall of the airbag door from the other hook and remove the front passenger airbag assy.

21. INSTALL FRONT PASSENGER AIRBAG ASSY
22. INSPECT FRONT PASSENGER AIRBAG ASSY





23. CONNECT INSTRUMENT PANEL WIRE NO.2
(a) Connect the connectors to the front passenger airbag assy.

NOTICE: When handling the airbag connector, take care not to damage the airbag wire harness.

(b) Install the clip.

24. INSTALL INSTRUMENT PANEL SAFETY PAD SUB-ASSY





25. CONNECT FRONT PASSENGER AIRBAG ASSY CONNECTOR
(a) Connect the connector.

NOTICE: When handling the airbag connector, take care not to damage the airbag wire harness.

26. ADJUST CENTER SPIRAL CABLE
27. INSTALL STEERING WHEEL ASSY
28. INSPECT STEERING WHEEL CENTER POINT
29. INSTALL HORN BUTTON ASSY
30. CONNECT BATTERY NEGATIVE TERMINAL
31. INSPECT HORN BUTTON ASSY
32. INSPECT SRS WARNING LIGHT
