Vehicle Damage Warnings
PRECAUTIONNOTE: When disconnecting the negative (-) battery terminal, initialize the following system after the terminal is reconnected.
1. LEXUS LINK SYSTEM PRECAUTIONS
a. If the ignition switch is turned to the ON position with the airbag sensor assy center connectors disconnected, a vehicle battery is removed with the ignition switch in the ON position, or the B+ circuit is open within 10 seconds after the ignition switch is turned to the LOCK position, the system will determine that a failure has occurred and automatically connect to the call center.
To prevent this, follow the procedure below when performing an operation related to the airbag sensor assy center or the battery:
1. Disconnect the connectors of the telephone ECU (Mayday ECU) and the back-up battery before disconnecting the airbag sensor assy center connectors (Disconnect the connectors of the vehicle harness and the LEXUS link system).
2. Be sure that the ignition switch is in the OFF position when removing a vehicle battery.
HINT:
- When an emergency call is made automatically by accident, contact the call center and explain that it was a false alarm to cancel it.
- If no signal is received from the airbag sensor assy center after the ignition switch is turned to the ON position, a service call will be made.
- If signal reception from the airbag sensor assy center is interrupted while the ignition switch is in the ON position, an emergency call will be made.
2. HANDLING PRECAUTIONS FOR AIRBAG SENSOR
HINT: In the airbag sensor assy center, airbag sensor front LH, airbag sensor front RH, side airbag sensor assy LH, side airbag sensor assy RH, airbag sensor rear LH, airbag sensor rear RH and seat position airbag sensor are collectively referred to as the airbag sensor.
a. Before starting the following operations, wait at least 90 seconds after disconnecting the negative (-) terminal of the battery:
1. Replacement of the airbag sensor.
2. Adjustment of the front/rear doors of the vehicle equipped with the side airbag and curtain shield airbag (fitting adjustment).
b. When connecting or disconnecting the airbag sensor connector, ensure that each sensor is installed in the vehicle.
c. Do not use an airbag sensor which has been dropped during the operation or transportation.
d. Do not disassemble the airbag sensor.
3. INSPECTION PROCEDURE FOR VEHICLE INVOLVED IN ACCIDENT
a. When the airbag has not deployed, confirm the DTC by checking the SRS warning light. If there is any malfunction in the SRS airbag system, perform troubleshooting.
b. When any of the airbags have deployed, replace the airbag sensor and check the installation condition.
