UPPER CONTROL ARM ASSY REAR LH
REPLACEMENT
HINT:
^ Use the same procedures for the RH side and LH side.
^ The procedures listed are for the LH side.
1. REMOVE REAR WHEEL
2. REMOVE PNEUMATIC REAR LH W/SHOCK ABSORBER CYLINDER ASSY (AIR SUSPENSION)
3. REMOVE REAR SHOCK ABSORBER WITH COIL SPRING
4. SEPARATE REAR AXLE CARRIER SUB-ASSY LH (AIR SUSPENSION)
a. Loosen the upper control arm assy rear LH lock nut.
NOTICE: Do not remove the nut.
b. Using SST, separate the rear axle carrier sub-assy LH from the upper control arm assy rear LH.

c. Remove the lock nut.
5. REMOVE UPPER CONTROL ARM ASSY REAR LH
a. Remove the 2 bolts, 2 nuts and upper control arm assy rear LH.
6. INSPECT UPPER CONTROL ARM ASSY REAR LH
a. Before installing the nut, flip the ball joint stud back and forth 5 times as shown in the illustration.
b. Using a torque wrench continuously turn the nut 3 to 5 seconds per turn, and take the torque reading on the 5th turn.
Turning torque: 1.0 to 3.4 Nm (10 to 35 kgf-cm, 9 to 30 inch lbs.)
If there is any abnormality, replace the upper control arm assy rear LH with a new one.
7. INSTALL UPPER CONTROL ARM ASSY REAR LH
a. Install the upper control arm assy rear LH with the 2 bolts and 2 nuts.
Torque: 90 Nm (920 kgf-cm, 67 ft. lbs.)
NOTICE: Jack up the rear axle, placing a wood block to avoid damage. Apply load to the suspension so that the rear suspension arm No.2 is horizontally positioned.
8. INSTALL REAR AXLE CARRIER SUB-ASSY LH
a. Install the rear axle carrier sub-assy LH to the upper control arm assy rear LH with a new lock nut.
Torque: 70 Nm (720 kgf-cm, 52 ft. lbs.)
9. INSTALL PNEUMATIC REAR LH W/SHOCK ABSORBER CYLINDER ASSY (AIR SUSPENSION)
10. INSTALL REAR SHOCK ABSORBER WITH COIL SPRING (COIL SUSPENSION)
11. INSTALL REAR WHEEL
Torque: 103 Nm (1,050 kgf-cm, 76 ft. lbs.)
12. ADJUST VEHICLE HEIGHT (AIR SUSPENSION)
13. ADJUST REAR WHEEL ALIGNMENT
